Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information RipScore Golf ("RipScore," "we," "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. RipScore is a golf scoring and side-game app. We built it to be used with as little friction as possible — most of the app works instantly with just a round or tournament code, with no account required.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide if you create an account

Creating an account is always optional. If you choose to create one, we collect:

Round and game information

Whether or not you're logged in, RipScore stores the information needed to run a round or tournament: game type, player names, scores, and any notes you choose to add for a hole. This is how the app keeps everyone's scorecard in sync in real time. If you're logged in when you play, your completed rounds are also saved to your personal history so you can review your stats later.

Location information (GPS)

Optional, and gated behind login

RipScore's distance-to-green feature uses your device's location, with your device's own permission prompt, only while you're actively using it during a round. Your live location is used on your device to calculate distance to the green and is not stored on our servers or shared with anyone. This feature is entirely optional — the app works fully without it.

AI-generated round recaps

Automatic, once a round finishes

When a round finishes, RipScore generates a short, personalized recap of the round using an AI service (Anthropic). To do this, we send the information already gathered for that round — player names, scores, and similar round details — to Anthropic for the sole purpose of generating this text. This information is not used by Anthropic to train their models.

Satellite hole images

Optional, and gated behind login

If you choose to view a satellite image of the hole you're playing, RipScore sends that hole's coordinates to Google Maps to retrieve the image. This is entirely optional and only happens if you tap to view it.

Information visible to other players

Golf is social, and RipScore is built around playing with others. If you're logged in, the following can be visible to people you're playing with or grouped with:
